Drone Technology in India on beating retreat 2022 republic day celebration

These days we are witnessing extensive use of drone technology in almost every phase of life may it be healthcare in delivering vaccines to its target location or delivery of food or delivery of packages by courier or firms like amazon. The recent show off 1000 drones which mesmerized the Beating Retreat this time was eye catching and sent a signal all over the globe where this technology is being indigenously developed by India and is the only country after US and other couple of nations to develop this technology of Drones.

What is so special about it I will tell you. After getting financial support from the Indian government IIT Delhi startup firm took up the task of developing the technology in just 6 months. This was the only work assignment in hand all over the nation and the firm Botlabs Dynamics received initial funding of 1 crore in R&D. 

India is the only 4th country all over the globe to possess this technology and develop it in house.  

Botlabs Dynamics engineers had lucrative job offers and they still were more inclined to complete the project for the republic day. The technology has been developed by India indigenously including hardware and software such as ground control station algorithm motor controller precision GPS flight controller etc being developed in India. It was in collaboration with ministry of science and technology and IIT Delhi and the firm.  

Botlab Dynamics has developed this inhouse technology which can form various spatial formations by itself simultaneously and autonomously. There is a plethora of options for light shows all over developed by the firm. 

 

"Making all the drones position themselves precisely so that a viewer can identify a form is a huge challenge. What we have developed is capable of scaling it to thousands of drones flying in detailed vivid imagery," according to the company. I believe there can be many implications with the development of this technology. Once it can form various designs and light shows autonomously it can also be used with fighter jets and act as weapon carrying wingman for a single aircraft or swarm of drones which can carry its own munition reach to the target by itself and make its own decisions using natural language processing to maneuver. I heard about the CATs platform.  

The Indian government owned HAL has termed it as CATS warrior. CATS Warrior is a part of the HAL Combat Air Teaming System program. Its work is believed to have started in early 2019 under a Public Private Partnership (PPP) between the state owned HAL and an Indian private startup Newspace R&D. HAL has done an initial investment of ₹400 crore in CATS Warriors & in Aero India 2021 a full-scale mock-up model was presented for the first time.
